Honeywell Pro-Watch: editions, controllers, end of life and upgrade options

Honeywell (Building Automation)GateStride: PlannedReviewed October 2026

By Tom Jin

Pro-Watch is Honeywell's integrated security suite for access control. It manages Honeywell's PW-series door controllers and the people and access rights behind them, with a browser client called Intelligent Command. Honeywell sells it in four editions: Lite, Professional, Corporate and Enterprise. The current product page is for Pro-Watch 6.6, which adds a native integration with Milestone XProtect video.

You typically find Pro-Watch in mid-size to large organisations and regulated sites. Honeywell lists it on the US federal FICAM approved products list and positions it for SOX and NERC CIP compliance work. A small office meets it most often as part of a larger company or a regulated campus. Honeywell also sells WIN-PAK for smaller sites, and now owns LenelS2 (OnGuard, NetBox) as well, so Pro-Watch is one of several Honeywell access platforms.

How to recognise Honeywell Pro-Watch

Look for the Pro-Watch name on the server or workstation software, or Intelligent Command in a web browser. Door controllers are Honeywell PW-series units, most often the PW7000 or the older PW6000 family, and the readers may be Honeywell OmniProx or OmniClass models or HID readers sold through Honeywell. If the software says WIN-PAK instead, see our WIN-PAK page; the two are different products.

  • Software named Pro-Watch, with an edition such as Lite, Professional, Corporate or Enterprise in its licence or about information.
  • A browser client called Pro-Watch Intelligent Command.
  • PW7000 controllers (part numbers such as PW7K1IC or PW7K1R2), PW7101 IP controllers, or older PW6000 or PW-M (PWM5) hardware in the controller list.
  • Honeywell readers such as OmniProx, OmniClass 2.0 or Omni Smart, or HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers resold by Honeywell.

What is ending, and when

Honeywell does not publish a single lifecycle table for Pro-Watch the way some vendors do. Instead, individual catalogue pages carry a "Discontinued" banner. That banner applies to the specific SKU, not necessarily to the whole product family. Several older Pro-Watch SKU pages, including the Lite licence, "Pro-Watch Series" and the older Integrated Security Suite SKU, are marked discontinued, while Pro-Watch 6.6 and the Corporate Edition pages are live. The PW-M modular system is marked discontinued with no end-of-support date shown.

For controllers, the PW7000 is current and Honeywell states it is backwards compatible with the PW6000 series, which gives existing sites a path without changing software. We could not find a current page or dated notice for the PW-6000 itself, so we leave its status unconfirmed rather than guess. Where a notice exists, we add it to the end-of-life tracker.

See every dated notice in the end-of-life tracker.

What offices commonly miss

  • No record of who left. Exits usually release through a request-to-exit device without a badge, so Pro-Watch logs entries but cannot tell you which person walked out.
  • Documentation is behind a sign-in. Installation, programming and SDK manuals require a Honeywell login, so offices depend on their integrator for configuration detail.
  • Integration is a licensed item. Third-party software reaches Pro-Watch through the Honeywell SDK licence or the Web Services API, which adds a licensing step to any add-on project.
  • Lifecycle status is per SKU. Because Honeywell flags individual catalogue pages rather than publishing a family timeline, it is easy to misread a discontinued SKU as the end of the whole product, or to miss that a part you rely on is no longer sold.

Integration options

Pro-Watch has two documented integration routes. The Honeywell SDK (HSDK) is sold as a licence, with its own catalogue SKU page (PWHSDK). Honeywell also describes a Web Services API that "enables integration to third-party systems and Active Directory". The technical documentation for both requires a Honeywell sign-in, so the details are not public. Pro-Watch 6.6 adds a native integration with Milestone XProtect video.

The PW-series controllers are managed only by Pro-Watch, so any integration works at the Pro-Watch server, not at the panel. For an office, that means a third-party add-on will need the SDK or Web Services licence on your system and an integrator who can configure it. Honeywell now also owns LenelS2, whose OnGuard platform has its own partner program; how that affects Pro-Watch's roadmap or partner terms has not been announced in our sources.

Upgrade paths

Keep Pro-Watch and add features in software

If your PW-series controllers are current, you can leave the doors alone and add features such as phone unlock or exit tracking through software that connects to Pro-Watch's licensed SDK or Web Services API. Budget for the licence and the integrator's configuration time.

Upgrade to 6.6 and refresh controllers

Move the server to Pro-Watch 6.6 and replace discontinued hardware such as PW-M modules with PW7000 controllers, which Honeywell states are backwards compatible with the PW6000 series. This keeps your cardholder database, access levels and integrations.

Replace the platform

A full replacement means new controllers and software and re-commissioning every door. With Honeywell now owning both Pro-Watch and OnGuard, some sites will wait to see the roadmap before committing. Replacement is the costliest route and is not forced by any dated Pro-Watch notice we have found.

Compare the routes over three years in the savings calculator.

GateStride and Honeywell Pro-Watch

Planned Pro-Watch is Planned for GateStride. It is on our roadmap, covering Pro-Watch 6.x editions and PW7000 controllers, but work has not started, so GateStride does not work with Pro-Watch today. A future integration would need Pro-Watch's licensed SDK or Web Services API. GateStride is in early access. If you run Pro-Watch, tell us; demand helps decide what we build next.

Questions about Honeywell Pro-Watch

What is the difference between Pro-Watch and WIN-PAK?
Both are Honeywell access-control software. Pro-Watch is the larger suite, sold in Lite, Professional, Corporate and Enterprise editions and used with PW-series controllers. WIN-PAK is aimed at smaller to mid-size sites and works with NetAXS, PRO4200 and other Mercury-powered panels. The two use different controllers and integration routes.
Is Pro-Watch discontinued?
No. Pro-Watch 6.6 has a live product page and the Corporate Edition page is active. Some older Pro-Watch SKU pages are marked discontinued, including the Lite licence and the PW-M modular system, but Honeywell's banner applies to that specific SKU rather than the whole product line.
Can I replace PW6000 controllers without changing software?
Honeywell states the PW7000 is backwards compatible with the PW6000 series, which suggests controllers can be refreshed while staying on Pro-Watch. Confirm the exact steps, firmware and Pro-Watch version with your integrator, because the installation manuals require a Honeywell sign-in.
Does Pro-Watch have an API?
Yes, in licensed form. Honeywell sells a Honeywell SDK (HSDK) licence and describes a Web Services API for integration with third-party systems and Active Directory. Documentation for both requires a Honeywell login, so third-party developers need access through Honeywell.
