Upgrade / Honeywell
Don’t throw out a working Honeywell. Upgrade it.
Not available yet. Support for Honeywell Pro-Watch and WIN-PAK is on our roadmap, but work has not started. GateStride is in early access; the only integration we call Verified today is Kantech EntraPass. See the full compatibility list.
A lot of Honeywell access control was put in by a dealer years ago and has quietly done its job since. The badge readers work, the panels sit in the comms room, and someone in the office knows how to add a new hire in WIN-PAK or Pro-Watch. Then the requests start: “Can I use my phone?” “Who’s still in the building?” The quick answer is a quote for a new system. Our answer, once the integration exists, will be different: keep the Honeywell you have and add the modern parts as software.
Two Honeywell systems, two different starting points
“Honeywell access control” usually means one of two software products, and they are not alike.
Pro-Watch is Honeywell’s larger platform. Honeywell sells it in Lite, Professional, Corporate and Enterprise editions; Lite is described as up to 32 doors on PW-Series panels, and Corporate as starting at two users and 96 doors, expandable to an unlimited number of doors. The current version page is Pro-Watch 6.6, and Intelligent Command is its web client. For integration, Honeywell lists a Honeywell SDK (HSDK) licence and a Web Services API that it says “enables integration to third-party systems and Active Directory”. The documentation sits behind a Honeywell sign-in.
WIN-PAK is the dealer-installed workhorse found in many small and mid-sized buildings. The current page is WIN-PAK 4.9, in Standard and Professional editions. It runs Mercury-powered Series 3, PRO42 and PRO32 hardware as well as NetAXS panels, and it already integrates HID Origo 2.0 Mobile Access, Suprema biometrics and MAXPRO video. We did not find a published third-party API for WIN-PAK, so the integration route for it is still an open question. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

How it would work on Honeywell
Planned design. Work has not started; the exact interface for each Honeywell product is not decided.
You would add
Hands-free phone unlock (phone, watch or tablet), a live who’s-inside list, exit tracking and one-tap fire muster — from one center across every door and site.
Honeywell keeps
Your WIN-PAK or Pro-Watch database, panels, readers, locks, request-to-exit and fire release. The overlay only reads events and calls the system’s own unlock; it never becomes the lock controller.
Should you replace your Honeywell system?
Look at the discontinued list above before you decide. If you are on WIN-PAK 4.7 SE, Central Station, an old NetAXS unit or MAXPRO Cloud, Honeywell itself has marked those pages discontinued, and a conversation with your integrator about the current versions is sensible regardless of what we do. That is usually a software or panel refresh inside the Honeywell family, not a new platform.
If your system is current and the real request is “phones and knowing who left”, a full replacement buys a lot of hardware and labour to get features that are mostly software. Ask any quote to separate the two. Our overlay-vs-replace comparison and savings calculator help you frame that conversation.
One more thing worth knowing: LenelS2, maker of OnGuard, now sits under Honeywell too — its product pages live on Honeywell’s Building Automation site. If part of your estate runs OnGuard, see our LenelS2 OnGuard page; that integration is further along (in development).
No rip-out. No per-user mobile fees.
WIN-PAK already integrates HID Origo Mobile Access, and Honeywell also offers its Vector Occupant App for phone-as-ID. Those are legitimate options; ask your integrator how they are licensed and priced for your site. The GateStride design is different: it connects as a single integration and manages your people’s phones itself, so adding staff does not add mobile-credential seats on our side. It also adds the part card and phone credentials generally do not: a record of who has left, because exits through a free-egress door leave no identity behind. Pricing is a flat quote with no per-user fees.
Good for the system you already own
GateStride keeps your Honeywell panels, readers and Pro-Watch or WIN-PAK software in service instead of replacing them with a new cloud platform. Your investment stays in use, your integrator keeps the service relationship, and your office gets phone unlock and exit tracking on top of the Honeywell system it already trusts.
Looking for a Honeywell dealer?
GateStride is independent software. We are not a Honeywell dealer, reseller or authorized partner, and we cannot sell you Pro-Watch or WIN-PAK licences, panels or service. Your first call should be the integrator who installed or maintains your system — they hold your configuration and your panel programming. When our Honeywell integration is supported, that same integrator can install GateStride on top. Integrators who want to offer it can become a partner and keep the resale margin.
Why “Planned” and how you can move it
We started where we could test honestly: our own office runs Kantech EntraPass, and that is the only system we call Verified. LenelS2 OnGuard and Brivo are in development. Honeywell, Software House and HID are planned, and demand decides the order. If you run Pro-Watch or WIN-PAK, tell us the product, version, rough door count and who maintains it. That tells us which Honeywell product to start with — and you hear first when it moves to development. Not sure which you have? Our guide to identifying your access control system helps.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I add phone unlock to Honeywell WIN-PAK or Pro-Watch without replacing it?
- Not with GateStride yet. Honeywell support is planned, which means it is on our roadmap but work has not started. The aim is the same overlay we run on Kantech: read the system’s events, call its own unlock, and leave the hardware alone. Tell us you run Honeywell so we can prioritise it.
- Is GateStride a Honeywell dealer?
- No. GateStride is independent software and is not a Honeywell dealer, reseller or authorized partner. For WIN-PAK or Pro-Watch licences, panels or service, talk to the integrator who maintains your system. Once our integration is supported, that integrator can install GateStride as well.
- Which is easier to integrate, Pro-Watch or WIN-PAK?
- From public information, Pro-Watch has a clearer path: Honeywell lists an SDK licence and a Web Services API for third-party integration. We did not find a published third-party API for WIN-PAK, so its route is still an open question. Both are planned; neither is in development yet.
- Do I have to tear out my doors?
- No. The overlay approach keeps your Honeywell panels, readers, locks, request-to-exit and fire release. GateStride adds a small node at the door and a center in your comms room.
- Will it reduce per-user mobile credential costs?
- That is the design goal. GateStride connects as a single integration and manages phones itself, so adding staff does not add mobile-credential seats on our side. WIN-PAK already integrates HID Origo Mobile Access, so compare how that is priced for your site.
